A pensioner who was the main suspect in the death of his wife was found dead on Thursday at his son’s home.

Michael Tamassar, called ‘Mike’, of Ogle Airstrip Road, East Coast Demerara, was discovered unresponsive in the living room of his son’s Bladen Hall home around 9:38 hrs. He was reportedly last seen alive at 7:00 hrs.

According to a police statement, no marks of violence were observed on Tamassar’s body. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Buxton Health Centre by the attending doctor. A post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

Tamassar had been arrested last week in connection with the death of his wife, Lackandai Tamessar, at their Ogle home. Her body was discovered on December 26 by a relative who returned to the house a second time. She was found with multiple stab wounds.

Police released Tamassar days later as investigations into the woman’s death continue.
