Otis “Otisha”, Pearson, was today committed to stand trial in the High Court.
The popular transgender man was before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore on a rape charge. The court was told that on December 24th, 2017, at Station Street Kitty, Pearson engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16. Otisha was not required to plea to the charge. He is currently out on bail.
The Child Care and Protection Agency pounced on the story after Pearson allegedly made some remarks in an interview on a Television newscast about him having a “little boy” for every day of the week, he quickly back peddled and said his statement was taken out of context.
Things were further compounded when a photograph surfaced of Pearson and a lad who is said to be minor. This prompted an investigation from the Child Care and Protection Agency. The Agency completed its investigation and handed over the file to the Police.
In March of this year, Otisha was arrested on an allegation that he was having sexual relations with underage boys. The Child Care and Protection Agency (CC&PA) assisted the police in the probe. The file was completed and sent to the DPP’s Chambers for legal advice after which the DPP recommended charges.
The two men involved in the Emancipation Day shootout with the Police were today remanded to prison when they appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ court.
Three children are now left orphaned after their father killed their mother before taking his life.
Dead are 29-year-old Sabrina Lakhan and her 42-year-old reputed husband Ramesh Ramdeen both of Chesney New Housing Scheme, Corentyne. 
Reports are that the woman who was granted a protection order from the Albion Magistrates’ Court accompanied by two police officers went to the house to remove her belonging but on her arrival, the woman said she no longer wished to move. However, sometime after the police officers left a neighbour heard screaming coming from the house and the woman professing her love for the man.
The neighbour recounted that after the commotion ended she decided to call the police as she suspected that something was wrong.
The mother of three was found with her throat slip in a pool of blood on the upper flat of the house while her husband’s body was found on the lower flat with is throat also slit. The suspected weapon, a cane cutter’s cutlass was found at the scene with blood stains.
Reports are that Ramdeen who is said to be an alcoholic is said to be in the habit of threatening to kill his wife.
