Bandits killed two brothers during Bush Lot, Corentyne Berbice robbery.

A Bush Lot Farm Corentyne Berbice family was plunged into mourning after two members of that family were killed by bandits last evening.
The dead men have been identified as 46-year-old Haricharan Samaroo called ‘Davo’ and Premcharran Samaroo called ‘Tolly,’ 45.
This newscast understands that the men were over at their mother’s home when the bandits pounced on them.
According to a Police report, one of the brothers was shot in the face and the other dealt several lashes and pronounced dead on arrival at the Port Mourant Hospital. There are reports that three masked men, armed with a handgun, a shotgun and a cutlass stormed the family’s house demanding cash and jewellery. The men reportedly relieved two other victims Irene Samaroo, 58 and Monilall Samaroo, 81 of an undisclosed sum of cash.

The report from the police stated that their initial investigations revealed that the victims were together under the house conversing when the suspects with weapons brandished, pounced and demanded cash and other valuables during which process the deceased brothers who refused to comply, were beaten and shot.

According to the Police, stringent efforts are currently being made to have the perpetrators apprehended and brought to justice.

 

A man is on the run after he murdered his father- in -law and severed the hand of his brother-in-law.

A release from the Guyana Police Force Public Relations Department said the incident occurred around 04:00 hrs today at Kurtaka Village, in the Cuyuni River.

The police say their initial investigation revealed that the suspect was beating his wife and her father Solomon Lewis when his brother-in-law, Marvin Lewis intervened, the suspect became annoyed and armed himself with a cutlass and fatally chopped the elder Lewis.
According to the Police, he then turned his attention to his brother-in-law and injured him, after which he fled the area by boat.
The Police has since dispatched a team of investigators to the crime scene to bring out the body and the injured man.

 

One dead one critical after a car crashed into an abandoned refrigerator

A 20-year-old driver is now dead and his 18-year-old female companion is hospitalised in a serious condition after the vehicle he was driving crashed into an old refrigerator that was dumped on the #59 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice this morning.
The dead man was identified as Reoul Drepal-Saul and the injured woman Akesha Beaton, 18 both of # 51 Village Corentyne Berbice.

According to a police report, the motorcar PVV 1120 was proceeding north along the western carriageway of the road when it collided with the refrigerator.
As a result of the impact, the driver lost control of the vehicle which reportedly toppled several times before it came to a halt in a western drain.
The occupants were first taken to the Skeldon Public Hospital where they were treated and transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital. Drepal- Saul succumbed to his injuries whilst receiving medical attention at the New Amsterdam Hospital while Beaton is admitted in a serious condition.

A woman lost her life in West Demerara Accident after the car toppled and landed in a swamp

Police on the West Bank of Demerara are probing a fatal accident which occurred just after 5:00 this morning at De Kinderen, Public Road on the West Bank Demerara. The accident involved a motor car bearing license plate number, PRR 4153 which was driven by the now deceased woman Nkasi Mc Kend of Stewartville on the West Bank of Demerara.

 

There are reports that the woman was driving the motor car at a fast rate and was in the process of negotiating a right turn when she lost control of the car which toppled before landing in a swampy area on the western side of the said road.

 

The Police said that the woman received head and other injuries about her body. She was pronounced dead on arrival at the Leonora Cottage Hospital. 

 

There were two other occupants were in the vehicle at the time of the accident but they received minor injuries and were treated and discharged.

Man shot dead in Agricola during a fight, two brothers on the run

Two suspects are on the run as the Police probe the fatal shooting of an Agricola man which occurred just after 8:00hrs this morning in Second Street Agricola.

Dead is, 34-year-old of 96 Remus Street, Agricola East Bank Demerara. A second man, Seon Bobb is a patient at the GPHC, he is nursing a gunshot to his right-side rib.

 

Reports are that the men were involved in a fist fight in First Street, Agricola but the altercation quickly escalated. It is said that a man identified by the call name “Home Alone” opened fire on Da Silva and Bobb.

Home Alone was allegedly given the gun by his brother who was identified by his call name “Guadie”.

This understands that Da Silva was shot to his right-side chest and left foot, he succumbed to his injuries at the Diamond Hospital. Bobb, on the other hand, was shot to his right-side rib but the bullet exited.

Home for Christmas. President Pardon’s three women

Three women have been given an opportunity to turn their lives around after they were granted pardons by President Granger.

A release from the Ministry of Public Security said the presidential pardons will be effective from tomorrow, December 20 in time for the Christmas season.

The women are 26 year old Joanna Beckles, 22-year-old Felicia Henry and 17-year-old Keysha Gibbs.

The women who were being held at the New Amsterdam Prison have all served a portion of their respective sentences for offences ranging from larceny and forgery.

The release stated that it is an expression of compassion and humanity by his Excellency.
