Three for court tomorrow for vigilante style murder of Silver Hill ex-soldier

This newscast understands that a husband and wife are among the three expected to appear in court tomorrow. They will be charged for the Silver Hill Soesdyke/Linden Highway vigilante murder of
Daniel Forde of ‘B’ Field Sophia, Georgetown. There are reports that the man was killed after he committed a robbery at a shop in the village.
The police’s file in the matter was sent to the DPP for legal advice after an eyewitness came forward and related what he saw.
The man said despite his repeated pleas for the man who was in handcuffs to be taken to the station the residents refused.
There are reports that the DPP has recommended that the trio be charged for the offence.

Popular Rose Hall businessman and son in custody as police probe robberies

A Rose Hall Corentyne Berbice businessman, his son and two others are in custody as the police probe a series of criminal activities allegedly carried out by the men.
Commander of B division Calvin Brutus confirmed that the businessman was arrested by the police. The commander said their initial investigations revealed that the businessman’s son has been using his .32 licensed firearm along with others to rob people on the Corentyne. The commander pointed to two incidents the men were fingered in. He said there are also reports that some of the stolen items were sold by the businessman.  According to the commander, two other suspects are on the run.
The breakthrough was made by the police during an operation at Tain on the Corentyne, when the police searched a vehicle and found a mask, crowbar and cutlass in the vehicle.
The police investigations into the matter are ongoing and the men are expected to appear in court later this week.

Doctor in custody following Bush Lot Corentyne fatal accident

An accident at Bush Lot Public road on the Corentyne has left one dead and two others injured. Dead is 16-year old Alyia Mohabir. The accident occurred last Friday afternoon. Those injured were Roshnie Mohan,9 a student of Bushlot Primary and Aneela Mohabir of #46 Village, her sister was also killed in the accident.

This newscast understands that the Nissan Xtrail vehicle bearing license plate PXX 5165 was driven by a doctor. The doctor alleges that he saw the child run across the road from south to north into the path of his vehicle, he said to avoid an impact he swerved to the left, but however in doing so he came into contact with the two other pedestrians, Aaliyah and Aneela who were walking on the northern path of the road.

An eyewitness, Ramkarran Latchman who was also injured in the collision spoke to this newscast at the scene on Friday.

According to other eyewitnesses, the driver of the vehicle stopped, but was left in a state of shock following the collision.

9 year old, Roshnie Mohan and 14-year-old Aneela Mohabir were picked up in a stable condition by public-spirited persons, while Aaliyah was unconscious at the time.

They were all taken to the Port Mourant hospital where Roshnie remains a patient, and Aaliyah and Aneela have been transferred to New Amsterdam.

Speaking with this newscast from the New Amsterdam hospital Friday evening, the girls father Monil Mohabir said his daughters left home to visit a few teachers in Bushlot for valentine’s.
Aneela who is the younger sister sustained a fractured right leg, while Aaliyah his eldest who was in a critical state had to be transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Unfortunately, Aaliyah succumbed to her injuries on Saturday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The driver passed a breathalyzer test, but remains in police custody assisting with investigations.
