Jamaican Dancehall Artiste ‘Ajji

AJJI explains the reason he changed his stage name, “fans of my work couldn’t find who did their favorite songs because of how complex my name and it’s spelling was. This was a hard decision but was necessary for the fans.”

His latest fast-growing single, “Jokes on You” is already creating waves among fans who find it relatable and others said it mirrors situations in their life.

When asked about the inspiration behind the lyrics, Ajji said it’s from, “personal experience really, all is fair in love and war, sometimes the best way to prove a point is to take away a man’s most valued item, in some cases, it’s their women,” he laughed!

He complimented the song with fire visuals, which was shot in parts of Queens, New York. “We wanted to show how far people would go in general to get what they want, in this case, we drove separate cars met in a public place and left in one car,” he explained.

The controversial single features a brown skin short blonde hair beauty who captivates Ajji’s attention. She is running games on her man with him (Ajji) and this has him feeling like a Don, hence the song title, “Jokes on You”

Lyrical genius- Ajji

It’s an interesting position for a man to be in but many men see this as a position of authority when in reality they are the side dude lol so Ajji’s perspective is from the side, but his side is where it’s at.

Another personal take away from this video is that Ajji is telling the short hair black beauty that it’s just sex and she is good with this, reminds me of some women, no shade.

A total of 98 out of the 99 boxes for Region 1 were completed at the end of the day. The remaining ballot box was wet and has been put aside pending a decision by the commission on the way forward concerning the content of this box.

During her daily update of the recount, GECOM’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yolanda Ward announced that the commission had decided to empty the box and place the contents in a secure location to dry.

“As we speak those contents are out the box and placed in the sun to see what we will be able to discern later this afternoon…once they can be examined by the commission, then a determination will be made as to whether they will continue with the counting of that box or what other necessary decision they will need to take,” Ward told the media.

The PRO also disclosed that with the counting of Region 1 completed except for the one box, the recount for Region 5 commenced.

As of 02:00 pm today, 82 of the 135 boxes were completed for Region 2; Region 3, 107 out of 355; Region 4, 103 out of 879; and Region 5, 158 have to be counted.

40 Lindeners placed before the court for curfew violation

Forty Lindeners were arrested and charged for breaking the 6pm to 6am curfew as ranks of Region Ten’s Police Division continue to be proactive in enforcing the mandatory regulation.

Many of these curfew breakers were caught as a result of roadblocks, community patrols and responding to calls of persons breaking social distancing regulations for entertainment purposes.

Linden Prosecutor Vernette Pindar

Speaking to DPI, Prosecutor Vernette Pindar, explained that the arrest campaign, commenced on May 8 and since then 40 persons have been arrested and placed before the Linden Magistrate Court through virtual hearings. They were fined.

Pindar underscored that failure to pay the fines will result in persons being remanded to prison for up to three months. Those who refused to show up for court were charged in absentia.

The prosecutor also disclosed that reports have been made of persons hosting house parties and other social gatherings indoors after curfew hours. She warned the police will continue to respond to reports of these breaches and that the roadblocks and community patrols will be ongoing.

Roadblocks are usually established at the Bamia Police Outpost, in Amelia’s Ward, the Wismar-Mackenzie Bridge and key sections in Wismar.

Pindar reiterated the call for residents to adhere to the advisories implemented by the Public Health Ministry.

“If you do not need to be on the road, stay at home. Stay sanitised because when we have to answer these reports, we are putting ourselves at risk. “

Commander of Region Ten, Hugh Winter, echoed Pindar’s call for compliance with the curfew and other regulations, reminding that region has the second-largest amount of COVID-19 cases. Linden has recorded nine cases thus far with one death and one recovery.

Coalition to release tabulations as GECOM completes each District – Min. Patterson

As the Guyana Election Commission (GECOM) moves ahead with Day 9 of the national recount of ballots cast in the cast in the March 2 General and Regional Elections, Minister of Public Infrastructure Hon. David Patterson announced that the APNU-AFC coalition intends to release the tabulations it has made.

The minister disclosed that the tabulations will be released on a District by District basis to the public after the election body has completed recounts and tabulations for the respective Districts.

In a media briefing at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on Thursday, Minister Patterson also put to rest calls for the Coalition to release Statements of Polls (SOPs) it has in its possession, noting that the political party desires to see GECOM continue its work.

“This exercise is not a question of comparison. In my opinion, it’s a question of determining a winner and a next government […] We do not want anything to disturb this process,” he stated.

The Public Infrastructure Minister reminded the public it was President David Granger who brokered an agreement with the Leader of the Opposition Bharrat Jagdeo for there to be a recount of ballots cast in all administrative regions and that the Coalition intends to see the process take its course.

While maintaining the Coalition’s objections to discrepancies unearthed during the recount process thus far, that will be part of the observation report, Minister Patterson said the APNU+AFC intends to ask GECOM how it plans to deal with the anomalies.

For day 9 of the recount, GECOM is expected to process ballots from District 5 as the recount for District 1 ballots concludes terminates.

As of May 13, GECOM has recounted 367 of the 2,339 ballot boxes.
