16 year old killed by her 34-year-old lover who afterwards attempted to take his own life

Dead is 16yr old Sanesha Lall, of Richmond Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast.
According to a police report, the suspect and the teenager were in a relationship that ended sometime ago.

The police report added that the incident occurred around 09:30hrs today.  The suspect during a visit, entered the home of the teenager who was in her room, whipped out a black Rambo knife, and dealt her several stab wounds about her body. He then made good his escape in a blue minibus which was driven by him.

Lall was taken to the Suddie Hospital and was pronounced dead by a Doctor on duty.
The suspect was arrested by the police hours later at Better Hope Backdam, Essequibo Coast. The police say he was observed by ranks vomiting what appeared to be a green substance and upon questioning  he told the ranks that he had consumed a poisonous substance and was taken to the Suddie Hospital where he was admitted and is now under guard. The suspected murder weapon was also found in the minibus.

Lall’s body is at the Hospital’s Mortuary awaiting a post mortem. The Police investigations are ongoing.

The latest fatalities are two 74-year-olds, a male and a female from Regions 4 and 10.

The Ministry of Health said the two pensioners tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and died on November 10th.
They both died while receiving medical attention at the health facility. Their deaths now bring the total number of persons who have died from the deadly virus to 137.
The Ministry is also appealing to the general public to respect the confidentiality of the two deceased and their families and to allow them to mourn their tragic loss in peace.
The Ministry is reminding all Guyanese to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.11), which are in effect until November 30, 2020.

8 President College students test positive for COVID-19

Guyana’s Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand at a press conference on Monday said all students attending dormitory schools across Guyana will be tested for COVID-19. Now, this announcement comes hours after eight students at President’s College  tested positive for COVID-19.

Four of the 8 students are from a Region 8 community.

The discovery came following the students return to their dormitory to resume face to face classes.

Schools across the country opened their doors to 4th to 6 form students and some 20,000 students were expected back in the classroom.

According to the Minister, the level of interaction between students residing in the dormitories would be more than those attending other schools.

The Education Minister noted that there has been close collaboration with the Ministry of Health to ensure all COVID-19 protocols are followed in the event a student contracts COVID-19.

The Ministry of Education said all COVID-19 measures are in place at schools across the country. The Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education have been collaborating to ensure that all COVID-19 guidelines are followed in the event a student contracts COVID-19.

Schools were closed in March this year, after Guyana recorded its first COVID-19 death.

The Customs Anti-narcotics unit, (CANU) has issued a wanted bulletin for Marlon Primo of MA Trading 35 Factory Road, Paradise, East Coast Demerara. Canu said his last known address was given as 701 Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, and 69 Atlantic Ville, East Coast Demerara.

Counternarcotics prosecutors said they had tracked the transatlantic journey of the 11.5-tons of cocaine from Guyana, on the northeastern coast of South America, and seized it upon its arrival at the Port of Antwerp.

The cocaine was stitched between scrap metal and placed inside a steel container which was in turn packed into a sea container and loaded into a transatlantic vessel.
