J’ouvert party Murder: Tiger youth died from perforation of the liver and lungs due to gunshot injuries

The Post Mortem Examination on murdered Tiger Bay youth Dale Christopher revealed that he died from perforation of the liver and lungs due to gunshot injuries.

The Post Mortem which was performed by government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, this morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital mortuary, further revealed that one metal fragment was extracted from the body of the deceased which was lodged in his upper back.
Christopher was shot at the J’ouvert party on Mandela Avenue early Sunday morning. Christopher was reportedly placed in a car and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. His father told reporters that the young man left his Tiger Bay home with a group of friends to go partying.

42-year-old OSAFO SERESTE GRUNDALL, known as “Curl up or Safo” was arrested by the Police for the murder of Christopher.

The man is currently in custody as the police probe continues into the matter.

Deputy Commissioner seconded to the CDC minutes after returning from leave 

Changes are taking place at the top brass of the Guyana Police Force and the first of the changes made is the immediate removal of Deputy Commissioner of Police Paul Williams.

Williams who returned from his accumulated vacation leave today was given a letter indicating his removal. Prior to Williams going on leave, he was performing duties as the Force’s Admin.

Williams confirmed that he received the letter which was signed by the acting Commissioner of Police Nigel Hoppie.  This newscast understands that Williams will be a part of the Civil Defense Commission COVID-19 Task Force to provide security advice.

Williams was promoted along with Maxine Graham, Lyndon Alves, and Nigel Hoppie to Deputy Commissioner of Police back in 2018. During that same period, Leslie James was appointed Commissioner of Police. James, Graham, and Alves have all retired.

Woman gets four years in jail for cocaine in vagina

23-year-old Tamera Melville will spend the next four years behind bars after she pleaded guilty to trafficking in narcotics.

The woman was busted at the Eugene F Correia International Airport, Ogle on Saturday with 775 grams of cocaine in her vagina and stomach.

She was an outgoing passenger booked on Caribbean Airlines flight #BW 215 destined for Barbados. During a search by the drug enforcement agents, the woman passed out through her vagina a bulky package wrapped in condoms, she later admitted that she had also ingested 73 pellets of the illicit substance.

She was a patient at the GPHC and after excreting the pellets the woman appeared in the Sparrendam Magistrate today before Magistrate Roschelle Liverpool where she pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four years in prison and fined $798,000.

Police probe alleged rape of a 10-year-old child

The Guyana Police Force is probing the alleged rape of a 10-year-old child by a close family member in the Northwest District – Region One.
According to the police, It is alleged that on 2021.02.24 at about 10:30hrs, the victim – who was left in his care – endured forcible sexual assault which left her unconscious. The police report added that though the suspect threatened to kill her if she spoke about it, the child confided in her grandmother who immediately alerted authorities. The victim was later escorted to the hospital where she was examined and a medical certificate in her favour was obtained. Swift police response has led to the suspect being arrested with statements to be taken as investigations continue.

Pensioner beaten and allegedly sexually assaulted

Pensioner beaten and reportedly sexually assaulted by bandits who invaded her Rose Hall Town Corentyne Berbice home this morning.

The 98 year old woman was beaten to her face and mouth which were swollen. A relative told reporters that further examination of the woman revealed that she was sexually assaulted by the suspect and blood was seen on her underwear.The woman said the pensioner related to her that the suspect choked her and put a hand down her throat.
The relative said the police arrived but left shortly after and indicated to family that if they have knowledge of who committed the act  to get unto them. The police have since launched an investigation into the matter. Two suspects are currently in custody.

Tiger Bay youth killed at a party on Mandela Avenue

Dead is Dale Christopher. There are reports that the man was shot at a J’ouvert party on Mandela Avenue. He was reportedly placed in a car and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced.
His father told reporters that the young man left his Tiger Bay home with a group of friends to go partying and they got a call this morning that he was dead.

Information surrounding the shooting at this time is unknown but police investigators are on the ground probing the murder.
Several persons were taken into custody for questioning. Details are emerging.

Father of two killed at family get together 

The police are probing the murder of a 25-year-old father of two which occurred last night at a family get together at D’Edward Village West Bank Berbice. Dead is Reaz Mohamed, called ‘Boy, a fisherman of Section ‘A’ D’Edward Village. The man had his throat slit by his cousin during a quarrel at family get together.
The Police are reporting that the father and cousin were consuming alcohol with other family members when the father became intoxicated. According to the police, around 18:30 hrs, he began using foul language against his father and in the process started to hit him several times.
The police said the suspect spoke to the man but he continued to behave in the same manner. The suspect then became annoyed and armed himself with a knife. He then allegedly slit the throat of the 25 year old and made good his escape. The Police were summoned to the scene. The body is at the Fort Wellington hospital Mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem.
