Motorcyclist dies in Garnette Street accident
A thirty-year old Werk-en-rust man is dead following his involvement in an accident in Garnet Street, Newtown.
According to the police, the accident involved a motor-cycle bearing license plate number CM 462 and a motor van with registration number GAE 6248.
Reports are that the deceased Alert Headley was heading west along Garnett Street at a fast rate when he lost control and collided with the back of a parked van.
As a result of the collision, Headley was flung some distance into the air before landing on the road. He sustained injuries to his head and body. Headley was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
Ramada Princess Hotel closes its doors until further notice
Following a fire which destroyed a room and gutted several others at the Ramada Princess Hotel, at Providence on the East Bank of Demerara, it was announced that the hotel will be closing its doors until further notice.
The hotel’s management in a media statement said it was working with authorities in organizing a plan to deal with issues that guests face at this time.

On Saturday, more than 250 guests were forced to leave the hotel after an alarm was raised that room 431 located on the fourth floor was on fire.
The Fire Service said that at the time of the fire 293 adults and 4 children were registered at the hotel.
The fire service is working on ascertaining the cause of the fire.
